We are offering a customized small group model (2-6)* operating out of a private oceanfront home retreat. This gives us ultimate flexibility to accommodate  different paces and skill levels to take advantage of each day as it comes. Paddle, lounge, eat, snorkel, repeat – or float in the pool. As they say “will build to suit”.  Now that’s a vacation!

We are nestled just thirty miles off the Caribbean Coast of Honduras. The Bay Islands offer beautiful paddling, diverse local culture and world class snorkeling and diving. This is a big experience combining kayaking, snorkeling, SUP and tropical biology – all with a twist of the rich cultural soup of this island group. This trip operates on island time and works in harmony with the local economy and culture. We don’t insulate you from the local people, but instead work with them for a lot of our daily needs like seafood, bread, local transport and general sharing – because they are as interested in you as you are them. The people of Honduras are every bit as appealing as the water and mountainscapes. Think of it as cultural exploration by kayak.

Lodging is island style comfortable bedrooms with shared baths, hot water, roofed over furnished deck, pool, dock, etc. Again, this new trip model is for 2-6 participants, so its perfect for couples traveling together or singles looking to increase their paddling skills.

You’ll fly directly to the island of Roatan from the US without ever setting foot on mainland Honduras, which has received inflated travel warnings. Roatan is accessed from Atlanta via Delta, from Houston on United and Miami or Dallas on American airlines flights. We’ll venture daily from our amazing tropical retreat in the village of Punta Blanca. Our front yard is a coral reef! Meals are served from a central kitchen/deck area and are prepared to your preferences and tastes. We source local fruits and vegetables for a mixed menu of tropical and familiar. Lunch by the pool, anyone?

Day 1

Flight arrival on Roatan. We’ll pick you up and transport you to our base at Punta Blanca. We’ll get you oriented and settled in, then get to know each other over dinner.

Days 2 – 3

We’ll be doing a variety of day trips out of our comfortable lodge location, beginning with day paddles in each direction to discover mangrove tunnels, local culture and a part of the island where the water IS the road. Once you’ve acclimated a bit and worked on some kayaking skills, we’ll start venturing further afield to explore reefs, secret channels, blue-water downwind runs and great vistas. You can even learn to brace, roll and surf in 80 degree water or just hang in the hammock and watch the hummingbirds. Enjoy terrific seafood feasts each night and sleep in the comfort of simple bedrooms in our comfortable cluster of casitas at the edge of the sea. Most all meals are prepared on site by your staff (our meals are well known) interspersed with a few meals out at local restaurants (all included).

Days 4 – 5

With good weather and the help of much larger boats, we cheat the elements a bit and have them shuttle us and our kayaks upwind to some other remote cayes and islands where we can enjoy some of the best snorkeling in the world and paddle back to remote villages where we’ll be met by our shuttle boat and taken back home to a nice meal and the comfort of our beds. That way we get to paddle with the wind, cover some new ground, meet interesting villagers that seldom encounter tourists and get more “immersed” in local culture. Our route is weather dependent and often gives us a chance to see different parts East End of the island via boat and land shuttles.

Day 6

After breakfast, taxi to the airport for return flights or trip extensions of your choice. Since many flights depart on Saturday, you may want to stay on till the weekend and enjoy some beach time on your own on the West End of Roatan. We are happy to get you there and help you make reservations at our favorite little hotel on that end.

Note: One of our favorite sayings is that “flexible things don’t break”. We keep a fairly open schedule to keep things safe, fun and relaxed…if you feel like taking a day off of paddling for a stroll, a day of Scuba (if you are certified), a book in a hammock or snorkeling off the end of our dock, all you have to do is ask. Your kayak will be ready for you the next day. Some days we just start out slow and taper off toward afternoon. If you have an interest in developing your paddling skills (whether its kayak or SUP), Michael is an ACA Level 4 instructor, BCU Coach 1 and we can tailor instruction to your needs and the conditions we meet.

*Larger groups of 6-10 can be accommodated at our Marble Hill Farms location and receive a 10% lower rate. Call 231-882-5525 if you represent a larger group.
